More than 300 high school and college students gathered at the Regional Center for Workforce Education and Training (RCWET) in Woodbridge for a 36 hour hackathon coding challenge on April 8-10, 2016. In addition to the main event – trying to hack code and solve corporate sponsored cyber challenges – leading cyber experts were also in attendance to offer advice to the students. Among them was NetCentrics Cybersecurity expert Marvin Marin, who presented a “Tech Talk” to encourage students to improve their skills and further their education and join the field supporting and defending our nation’s cyber infrastructure and eco-system of computers, servers, databases, and mobile devices.  Mr. Marin recalled his journey through 17 years of experience into his current role as a Program Manager and cyber expert supporting the US Coast Guard Cyber Command. In addition to having his CISSP, ISSMP, and CCISO certifications, Mr. Marin has published several articles on cybersecurity and has been a contributing editor and advisory board member for the SANS Institute.
